Pennsylvania Library Resources

Introduction

As Pennsylvania's only land-grant university, Penn State has a broad mission of teaching, research, and public service.

Pennsylvania state residents having proper ID (PA drivers license or state ID) with current address will be issued a Resident Borrowers card.  Pennsylvania residents are eligible to register for a Resident Borrowers Card at Penn State campus library locations throughout the state.

Policies

Residents with a library card may borrow up to 100 items.   The borrowing period is 28 days.

Resident borrowers may renew most materials three times.  Videos for all borrowers may be renewed eight times.

Resident Borrowers who also register online through the Libraries Friends of Penn State page may:

  • place holds on items that are not currently available by clicking on the “I Want It” button from an item screen in The CAT,
  • can view their borrowing account information online, and
  • can renew their borrowed items online.

The resident card does not provide access to online resources.  When searching, limit the format to books, videos, or other physical items so that search results will display only things that circulate.

You may also limit the search to the library of campus where you will be picking up the items.
