Reeves Memorial Library: Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary Loan Service

Interlibrary Loans are available to students, faculty, and staff for print books and articles. Electronic resources are not available through Interlibrary Loan. Remember to allow at least two weeks for books to arrive. Journal articles usually come more quickly because they are delivered online. If you have any questions about interlibrary loans, send an email to reeves@setonhill.edu

Policies

Interlibrary loan (ILL) is provided free of charge to current Seton Hill students, faculty, and staff.

  • Materials: Books and journal articles.
  • Availability: Requests are processed as they are received. Forms must be completed with correct information.
  • Usage Periods: Most requests will be sent within one to two days of submission. Borrowers are expected to adhere to policies, guidelines and deadlines set by lending libraries. ILL books cannot be renewed. All borrowed material is subject to recall, requiring immediate return.
  • Fines: $1.00 per day will be charged for late returns. No ILL requests will be processed if a patron has outstanding ILL or library fines. Borrowers are also responsible for any late charges levied by a lending institution in addition to those levied by Seton Hill. A $5.00 fee will be assessed for any materials that are requested through interlibrary loan but are not picked up by the due date or expiration date.
  • Lost/Damaged Items: Patrons are responsible for any ILL materials they use. If a patron from SHU loses or severely damages an ILL book, he/she must relinquish all ILL borrowing privileges until the item is returned and/or the lending library is appropriately reimbursed.
  • Copyright: Compliance with copyright laws is expected.
  • Staff: The Interlibrary Loan Coordinator oversees the interlibrary loan process and resolves patron questions.
