These are online, "open-access" resources. This means that the publisher has made these freely available to the public. This list is provided for your convenience but the tools are not maintained by the library.

Comprehensive list of free databases
This guide was put together by a librarian at Rutgers University.

Open-access databases

These databases are free search tools. Some of the materials may be freely available in full-text access; for others, you may need to contact your public library to get access to the complete text of the article.

DOAJ: Directory of Open Access Journals
Search the DOAJ and find over one million freely-available research articles in virtually every subject area.
ERIC – World’s largest digital library of education literature
ERIC has many peer-reviewed articles available as full-text. To find them, do a search and then click on the checkboxes at the top of the result screen. Set it to "peer reviewed" and "full text" and hit the "search" button again to filter the results.
HNRIM: Human Nutrition Research Information Management System
"A database containing federally supported research and training projects with relevance to human nutrition." The nutrition database has been merged with other departments and is now part of the CRIS database. Select the "HNRIMS" checkbox and DE-select the "Any" checkbox to search for only nutrition results.
PubMed
This site allows you to search over 22 million records. While it includes content from PubMed Central, it is more comprehensive in scope. Some material will be available in full-text access and some will be citation information only. Check our holdings through Full Text Finder to see if we have access to the full text through the library's collections.
Google Scholar
Search for scholarly materials online using the friendly Google search box.
