MLA International Bibliography User Guide

This guide will provide a basic introduction to the MLA database which will be a foundation for studies in the English major.  

Remember that there are limited abstracts and fewer full text entries in the MLA International Bibliography.   

Although it is accessed through EBSCOHost, the Modern Language Association does all of the indexing.

Learn to use the Thesaurus and Names as Subjects features of the MLA Bibliography.  

Browse the Thesaurus to both narrow and expand your search.

Searching with precise subject terms and names will be more productive than keyword searching.
