Print Books, Scores, and Recordings

Tips for searching HillCat:

  • Try different keyword combinations.
  • Experiment with the Advanced search tab to combine ideas.
  • If you are searching for audio recordings, you can limit your search by choosing "Music CD" or "Musical Recording" from the formats listed in the "Limit by" box on the search screen.
  • If you are searching for scores, choose "Music Score" from the "Collection" list under "Open Search Options."
  • To find scores, audio recordings, and other works by individual composers, try a keyword search limited to "Author" or an Author Browse search using the composer's last name as your search term.
  • The subject links in the right sidebar will help you find similar items.
  • To browse our collection virtually, choose the call number option under the Browse tab.  The call number range for music is 780-789, while the call number range for education is 370-379.

Remember that you need your SHU ID card to borrow library materials.

  • Pay attention to the type of resource (book, article, dissertation, CD, DVD, etc.
  • You should see "Held by Seton Hill University, Reeves Memorial Library" in the search results for any titles we have in our local collections
  • Consider date and currency
  • Place interlibrary loan requests for items not held at our library
