St. Elizabeth Ann Seton

Elizabeth Ann Bayley Seton was a wife, mother, businesswoman, educator, woman religious, and saint who lived from 1774-1821. The first American-born saint, she is credited with founding the American parochial school system, as well as the Sisters of Charity religious order. The Sisters of Charity, in turn, went on to found what is now Seton Hill University, which was named in honor of Mother Seton.

This guide collects links and citations for resources about St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, her Sisters of Charity, and the Vincentian tradition from which they arose, with a special emphasis on materials in Seton Hill University's Reeves Memorial Library.
