The default option for the Search bar at the top of the page is a Company search. When you type the name of the company you're researching into the search bar, you'll see a list of matching companies drop down, ordered in terms of total sales revenue.
If the company you're looking for is not included, click on the Magnifying glass icon to view the full list. In most cases, both parent companies and subsidiaries will show up in your results.
Detailed financial information and other advanced profile content are only available for public parent companies or the highest level public subsidiaries. You can ensure you've chosen a parent company by checking the information listed in the company summary (see below for side-by-side examples).
When you select a company to view its profile, the landing page is the one-page Company Summary, which provides key statistics, a brief company description, industry and financial overviews, key contacts, and a basic SWOT analysis.
More detailed information can be found in the reports listed in the menu along the left side of the screen, which are grouped into three sections:
CORE: This section provides the company description and history, company contacts (including a contact decision matrix which shows who the highest-ranking executives are), corporate overview and family (showing the full subsidiary structure), signals, triggers, news, and a full SWOT analysis.
ADVANCED: The Advanced section offers more details about close competitors and industry peers, analyst reports, company annual reports and SEC filings, and a categorized list of technologies currently being used by the company across a wide range of operations and processes.
FINANCIALS: This section provides in-depth reports about the company's financial performance and financial health, including a stock report, income statements, balance sheets, cash flow reports, and ratio reports.
D&B Hoovers offers a wealth of public company financial information in a variety of standardized reports. The following categories are available in the "Financials" section of the left-hand company profile menu:
Stock Report: Provides an overall snapshot of the company's recent stock performance over the past year, as well as historical data (yearly and monthly) on the stock price dating back five years.
Financial Health: Tables show an array of key indicators of the company's financial health, including recent short-term growth, as well as key ratios and market valuation.
Financial Report (Standardized): You can view a full report with Income Statements, Balance Sheets, and Cash Flows, or you can view individual reports for each of these three elements. Although the default setting shows the most recent five years' worth of data, a drop-down selection tool lets you view data from the past three or ten years if you prefer.
Geographic Segments: You can view revenue and income data from the company's operations around the world, broken down by broad geographic areas.
Business Segments: For companies operating with distinct product lines across a variety of industries or business sectors, you can see assets, revenue, and operating incomes for each separate segment.
Annual Ratios: When available, the most recent five years' worth of common financial ratio data is provided, encompassing financial strength, efficiency, profitability, and more.
Ratio Comparisons: This report shows company, Industry, and Sector ratios in multiple financial categories.
Additionally, a number of standard SEC filings with financial information are linked from D&B Hoovers for each public company under the "SEC Filings" category in the Core section of the navigation menu on the left. The links in Hoovers will open new tabs on the SEC website, where the form is available. These filings include, but are not limited to, the following common SEC forms:
10-K: This lengthy annual report offers a comprehensive analysis of the company's overall financial condition, including key financial statements such as income statements, cash flow statements, and balance sheets.
10-Q: A brief version of form 10-K that is filed quarterly.
8-K: Companies use this form to report major developments that happen between 10-K and 10-Q filings.
Form 4: This form is used to report changes in ownership.
